Okada Manila has released its 2025 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report, highlighting measurable progress under its Okada Green Heart program. Among its key achievements are the elimination of up to 2 million plastic bottles annually and the recovery of more than 9,000 meals for local communities—underscoring the integrated resort’s continued commitment to responsible hospitality.
As the Philippines’ largest Forbes 5-star integrated resort, Okada Manila continues to integrate sustainability into its core operations. Its ESG framework focuses on improving resource efficiency, strengthening community engagement, and upholding responsible business practices, reflecting a long-term commitment to value creation for both stakeholders and society.
Aligned with globally recognized sustainability standards and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the resort’s ESG strategy demonstrates a structured and evolving approach to responsible growth—where operational excellence and social impact advance hand in hand.
Okada Green Heart: Turning strategy into action
At the center of Okada Manila’s sustainability roadmap is the Okada Green Heart program, which drives initiatives across environmental stewardship, social development, and operational responsibility.
In 2025, the resort advanced its Energy Efficiency efforts through smart systems, optimized operations, and a continued shift toward 100% LED lighting. It also introduced Entertainment City’s first electric vehicle (EV) charging station, supporting the transition to low-emission mobility.
Under Water Conservation, the implementation of the Nordaq system enabled on-site filtration and bottling of water, significantly reducing single-use plastic consumption and eliminating the need for large-scale transportation. This initiative alone helped remove up to 2 million plastic bottles annually.
In Waste Management, Okada Manila strengthened its circular economy initiatives. Food rescue programs recovered over 2,800 kilograms of surplus food and redistributed more than 9,000 meals, while preventing approximately 5,500 kilograms of CO₂ emissions. These efforts were complemented by expanded sustainable packaging and material repurposing programs aimed at reducing landfill waste.
The Talent and Community pillar continued to focus on employee wellbeing and community engagement, supporting health and wellness programs while also driving environmental initiatives such as tree planting and coastal cleanups.
Safety, Security, and Welfare remained a key priority, with ongoing investments in training, emergency preparedness, and participation in nationwide safety drills to reinforce a culture of readiness across the organization.
Meanwhile, Responsible Gaming initiatives were enhanced through digital training tools and improved reporting systems, strengthening compliance and promoting a safer gaming environment for guests.
Extending impact through Okada Foundation, Inc.
Beyond its ESG initiatives, Okada Foundation, Inc. (OFI) continued to expand its impact across key social development areas, including food security, education, healthcare, arts and culture, and sports.
In 2025, OFI strengthened community nutrition programs, expanded access to digital learning through partnerships such as AuroraPH, and supported healthcare initiatives through institutional collaborations.
The Foundation also continued to champion Filipino talent globally—supporting artists through international exchange programs and backing athletes preparing for future competitions, including the 2028 Olympic Games.
Through these initiatives, OFI reinforces Okada Manila’s belief that progress must be shared—creating opportunities that extend beyond its operations and into the communities it serves.
Leadership perspective
“Guided by our vision to enrich lives through meaningful experiences, we continue to align our sustainability efforts with the evolving needs of our communities and stakeholders,” said Nobuki Sato, President and Chief Operating Officer of Okada Manila.
“Through the Okada Green Heart program, we are embedding responsible practices across our operations while creating value that goes beyond business performance. As we move forward, we remain committed to sustainability, innovation, and shared progress.”
Raising the bar for responsible hospitality
As the first integrated resort in the Philippines to receive the Forbes VERIFIED Responsible Hospitality badge, Okada Manila continues to set benchmarks for sustainable tourism in the country.
Through the Okada Green Heart program, the resort demonstrates that luxury hospitality and responsible operations can coexist—delivering premium guest experiences while prioritizing environmental and social impact.
Okada Manila emphasizes that success is no longer defined solely by growth, but also by the lasting positive impact created for people, communities, and the environment.
