JL Gaspar, a familiar face to fans as a former member of the P-Pop group PLUUS, is embarking on a new musical chapter with the release of his latest single, “Alon,” which dropped yesterday, June 6, 2025. This emotional pop anthem serves a dual purpose: a heartfelt farewell to his past with PLUUS and a significant introduction to his future as an upcoming K-pop idol. Gaspar secured his spot in a new K-pop group after a successful run on the popular K-pop survival show, Universe League.
“Alon” was recorded in 2024, during JL’s time in the Philippines and prior to his Universe League audition. The song poignantly captures the sensation of being overwhelmed by love and the agonizing uncertainty that often accompanies it. The lyrics resonate with this sentiment: “Ako’y nalulunod, hindi makaahon. Sabihin mo kung ano ba talaga kasi. Ano bang meron sa’tin, na hindi mo masabi? Kailan ko malalaman, kung nalulunod ka na rin sa akin?” (I am drowning, I can’t surface. Tell me what’s really going on. What do we have, that you can’t say? When will I know if you’re drowning in me too?).
While JL Gaspar prepares for his debut with a new K-pop group, “Alon” offers fans a chance to enjoy his artistry as a solo artist.
Released under Universal Records, “Alon” is now available for streaming on all major platforms. Fans can also look forward to the music video, which is slated for release soon.
