Far Eastern University (FEU) has cemented its standing as one of the country’s most consistent and credible institutions in healthcare education, with a measurable track record of producing board passers and national topnotchers across multiple licensure examinations. In the March 2025 Medical Technologist Licensure Examination alone, FEU’s Institute of Health Sciences and Nursing (IHSN) produced three national topnotchers in the persons of Mary Licel Biscocho in eighth place, Jennellene Guy Racca in ninth place, and Aira May Usi in 10th place. First-time takers from FEU scored an 86% passing rate, well above the national average of 80.26%.
This is not an isolated milestone. In March and August 2024, FEU fielded a combined 845 successful MedTech examinees. In March 2022, alumna Audrey Nicole Dumlao Tape topped the boards with a rating of 90.20%, and in 2021, Rocelle Anne Leonardo placed second nationwide.
The trend is equally clear in the field of nursing. In the November 2024 Nursing Licensure Exam, FEU recorded a near-perfect 99.82% passing rate and was named the second top-performing school among institutions with over 100 examinees. The university also produced Top 10 passers in multiple years, including Maxine Rose Agas (Top 10, May 2025), Nathalie Ojero Rebucan (Top 8, May 2024), and Patricia Beatrice Dela Cena (Top 8, May 2023). These outcomes consistently outpace national averages, affirming FEU’s reputation as a dependable engine of healthcare talent.
Institutional culture and internal systems that deliver
Behind these outcomes is a system of academic and institutional support designed to prepare students for licensure and professional practice. FEU integrates board preparation directly into its curriculum through structured review programs, rigorous clinical practice, and evidence-based instructional design. “We make sure that all the bases are covered, so to speak, from regularly checking the quality of instruction on the part of our faculty and facilities, to preparing and motivating the students to pursue the highest level of achievement,” said FEU IHSN Dean John Yason.
The Institute operates the Virtual Integrated Nursing Education Simulation (VINES) Laboratory, which features human patient simulators and high-fidelity equipment that mimic real clinical environments. Students also undergo extensive training through hospital and clinic affiliations across Metro Manila and nearby provinces. FEU’s support infrastructure also includes the Center for Learning Enrichment and Research for Students (CLEARS), an academic unit focused on improving foundational skills through tutoring, enrichment modules, and individualized academic support.
Programs under the IHSN are also backed by respected accreditations, including Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, College, and Universities (PAASCU) Level III status for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) Level II for the Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. Both programs also hold certification from the ASEAN University
Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), which reflects FEU’s alignment with internationally benchmarked standards and regional academic competitiveness.
These outcomes point to individual achievement and reflect a consistent institutional approach to education grounded in preparation, practice, and support. From foundational learning to licensure, FEU’s academic systems are designed to equip students with the skills and confidence needed for professional practice.
In a field where the stakes are high and the demands are constantly shifting, FEU offers reliability in producing healthcare graduates who are not only qualified, but also well-prepared to contribute meaningfully to their communities and the industry they serve.
