Alibaba has introduced Qwen Intelligence, a full-stack agentic AI solution designed to help smartphone manufacturers bring more intelligent, proactive capabilities to mobile devices. Global smartphone brand HONOR is the first partner to adopt the platform, with the two companies co-developing domain-specific models and solutions for next-generation AI smartphones.
Unveiled at the Apsara Conference in Hangzhou, Qwen Intelligence covers the AI stack from mobile-optimized foundation models to ready-to-use agents. HONOR’s upcoming Magic9 Series, launching September 28, and the HONOR Robot Phone are set to be among the first devices incorporating the technology.
Three Agents Designed For Smarter Mobile Experiences
The platform initially features three ready-to-use agents. The Mobile Planner Agent is designed to handle complex planning, break tasks into steps, coordinate tools, and adjust plans as situations change. For example, a business trip request could involve arranging flights and hotels, setting calendar events, and creating an itinerary, with the system designed to respond to disruptions such as flight cancellations.
The Mobile-Use Agent enables actions across apps using an API-first approach with GUI fallback, while maintaining security and privacy boundaries. Meanwhile, the Mobile Creative Agent is optimized for smartphone-based image generation and editing.
Qwen Intelligence also uses a three-layer architecture combining mobile-optimized foundation models, a customizable platform layer, and specialized agents for specific use cases. Manufacturers can adopt the complete solution or integrate individual components into their own systems.
Building Toward Agentic Smartphones
Alibaba is also developing an open evaluation framework for mobile agents, including MobilePA-Bench, which assesses agents across more than 1,000 real-world scenarios and over 200 commonly used mobile tools.
Through its collaboration with HONOR, Qwen Intelligence is being integrated with MagicOS to support more proactive smartphone experiences. Alibaba says HONOR AI smartphones powered by the architecture can achieve task accuracy of up to 91.8% and orchestrate complex workflows involving more than 100 steps.
