Renowned Jesuit priest, author, and Homeboy Industries founder Fr. Greg Boyle, SJ, is returning to the Philippines this September 2026 to share a message of trauma-informed healing, radical compassion, and human dignity.
Hosted by Elaine Kahn and Integra Wellness Center, Fr. Boyle’s upcoming Manila events aim to encourage Filipinos to rethink how society understands and responds to marginalized and vulnerable communities.
On September 10, 2026, at 4 PM, Fr. Boyle will lead “Finding Hope, Healing and Connection in a Divided World” at the Santuario de San Antonio Parish Center. The afternoon session will draw from his four decades of working with marginalized communities, exploring lessons on compassion, healing, second chances, and the fundamental human need for connection and belonging.
He will then lead a three-day retreat from September 11 to 13 at Rosary Hills in Silang, Cavite, offering participants a deeper exploration of his philosophy of radical kinship.
The retreat asks a powerful question: What would change if we truly believed that no one is disposable? Through this message, Fr. Boyle invites participants to move beyond an “us and them” mindset, recognize their shared humanity, and rediscover the goodness in themselves and others.
Fr. Boyle’s work began in 1986, when he became pastor of Dolores Mission, then the poorest Catholic parish in Los Angeles and an area heavily affected by gang violence. Rather than responding with judgment, he chose to walk the streets, listen to residents, learn their names, and build relationships with young people experiencing poverty, incarceration, and trauma.
In 1988, that mission evolved into Homeboy Industries, which has since grown into the world’s largest gang intervention, rehabilitation, and re-entry organization. Today, it supports more than 10,000 people annually through employment opportunities, therapy, tattoo removal, and holistic services.
“People do not transform because we fix them. Something begins to change when people experience being seen, cherished, and reminded of their own goodness,” Fr. Greg said.
His approach closely reflects the mission of Elaine Kahn, founder of Integra Wellness Center, who first brought Fr. Boyle to Manila in 2024 to promote whole-person and trauma-informed healing within local communities.
