Two prominent brands commemorate kate spade new york’s legacy and future by taking inspiration from its signature hue.

Kate Spade’s DNA has always been green. Pantone’s new hue, kate spade green, evokes the brand’s 30 years of optimism and opportunity.

Infused with energy and freshness, the distinctive nature of the color green has withstood changing trends over time and become beloved in the market for its dynamic and bold qualities. To commemorate the Pantone partnership and kate spade new york’s 30th anniversary, the brand’s signature green hue will be integrated across consumer touchpoints starting in Spring 2023, including an exclusive kate spade green capsule collection filled with bright new styles, as well as within a refreshed store design concept that is rolling out globally, and updated packaging (shoppers, boxes, garment bags, dust bags). The kate spade green product capsule spans across RTW, handbags, jewelry, footwear, home products, sunglasses and the watch category. The capsule also includes a limited-edition journal and mug featuring the Pantone color swatch. The beloved Sam Icon bag, a reimagined version of the timeless 1993 classic, will also be released in the new kate spade green as part of the capsule.

“Green has such significance for our brand and heritage. It has become a true signature of the kate spade new york personality, capturing a sense of freshness and ease, principles that define our unique style. The color green speaks to our desire to express, explore and experiment. It signifies renewal and is symbolic of new beginnings, and as we look back on the past 30 years of kate spade, what we want to celebrate most is the vibrance and optimism that this brand has always represented, and use that as a jumping off point for our future,” says kate spade new york CEO and Brand President, Liz Fraser.

During this milestone year, kate spade green will replace the iconic pink clover branding, packaging and store fronts, ushering in a new chapter for the 30-year old global lifestyle brand. Beginning in February, kate spade new york will unveil the use of kate spade green in flagship stores and public facing experiences for consumers to partake in first-hand. Starting February 1st through June, Japan will activate a kate spade green takeover of the kate spade new york Ginza store (Tokyo) which will also include a photo booth experience. In February, kate spade green will be introduced into dedicated areas of the Rockefeller Center (New York) and Ala Moana Center (Honolulu) stores. It will also be incorporated into the brand’s new store design concepts, with recent and upcoming openings including Marina Bay Sands (Singapore), Kaohsiung Hanshin Arena Shopping Plaza (Taiwan) and Oakbrook Center (Illinois), among others.

Additionally, and in tandem with the start of New York Fashion Week on February 10th, a selection of New York’s signature taxi cabs will be wrapped in kate spade green alongside other heritage brand codes including stripes and polka-dots. Consumers can catch the taxi cabs driving through Manhattan neighborhoods from February 10th, the day of kate spade new york’s Fall 2023 presentation, through February 16th.

“Kate spade new york has always recognized the invaluable role color plays in creating a strong and recognizable brand visual identity, so to be able to collaborate with them on the development of an official kate spade green color standard in honor of their 30th anniversary was very exciting for us,” says Laurie Pressman, Vice-President, Pantone Color Institute. “A vibrant and vital green hue connected with newness, youth and growth, kate spade green represents the spirit of promise and possibilities. Infused with the optimism of a sunny yellow, kate spade green enlightens us, igniting our curiosity and encouraging us to see the world in new ways.”In the Philippines, Kate Spade New York is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc., and is located at Central Square in Bonifacio High Street Central, Greenbelt 5, Power Plant Mall, Rustan’s Makati, Shangri-La Plaza, and Rustan’s Cebu.
