A touch of local elevates KARIMADON’s signature style in its ‘New Weave’ collection. A fusion of KARIMADON’s unique flair and Malingkat’s signature weaves, the new collection symbolizes the brand’s foray into a new era. When one is in need of a dress for a special occasion such as prom, debut, wedding, or graduation, there is one
store that comes to mind – the ever so reliable KARIMADON. Known for its well-made, timeless pieces and
flattering silhouettes, this local brand has mastered what customers want not only in terms of the design and quality,
but affordability too.

Established in 1980, KARIMADON is proudly designed and manufactured in the Philippines. Now, the time has
come for a new era of KARIMADON, where it takes a step further to showcase Filipino talent. KARIMADON’s latest
collection called New Weave, in collaboration with the Malingkat community from Mindanao, will be available
starting February 20, 2024 in-stores and online at www.karimadonfashion.com.

KARIMADON has launched a new collection featuring Yakan tribe weaves, aiming to support and provide livelihoods to sewers from different provinces. The collection includes a seven-piece set with four designs: Mutya, a full-length flowy jumpsuit featuring Yakan weaves on its waistband and cuff; Diwa, a pencil skirt dress with a sweetheart neckline cut and signature Filipino terno sleeve; and Dalisay, a mid-shin, box pleats dress with pockets. Both pieces come in two different colors and showcase Yakan weaves at the hem of the sleeves.

A KARIMADON collection wouldn’t be complete without a long gown. The Tala is an elegant, flattering piece with a
unique neckline and detachable belt. This gown comes in two colors as well. “The names Dalisay, Mutya, Diwa, and Tala were taken from Filipino words that best define Filipino women. The colors in this collection are truly a combination of earth and feminine hues. These colors are what best embody the
Yakan Tribe and KARIMADON,” says Embi Nicolas, Designer. The price of these pieces range from P3,499 to P5,999 and are available in XS to L. Special orders for extended sizes are available for a limited quantity only.

Wearing the Filipino skill, talent on your sleeve like previous collections, all pieces go through months of research and product development. The brand has always been able to come up with pieces that stay fashionable for years, and kept up with the ever-changing fashion trends– the ‘love local’ movement included.

This new era is all about collaborating with different weaving communities from all over the country, with the
Malingkat community as the trailblazer. “They were the most collaborative, and most passionate about this project,”
says Rick Go, President.

The artisans behind the ‘New Weave’ collection are the Yakan weavers. The Yakans are one of the more known
weaving communities in the country, and their tennun, the local term for woven fabrics, are easily distinguishable
with its geometric patterns and designs. They also continue to use a traditional backstrap loom until today.
“The Yakans traditionally use bold and vibrant colors in their designs but at Malingkat, we co-create fabrics that
have more contemporary colors in neutral or muted color palettes which KARIMADON has been known for,” says
Fawziyyah D. Maridul, founder of Malingkat.

This collection introduces a new wave of clothes that champions local talents and designs, while staying loyal to the
KARIMADON style and fit that people have grown to love over the last 44 years. It threads together KARIMADON’s
unique flair and symbolic Filipino weaving patterns to create timeless pieces that are proudly Filipino and fit for every
occasion.
